PART 2 JAGS: Where Holistic Education Comes to Life

This is Part two of my series on JAGS, focusing on the type of girl who truly thrives at this exceptional school.

James Allen's Girls' School is more than just a school; it’s a place where curiosity, ambition, and opportunity converge. With facilities that rival top universities and a curriculum brimming with possibilities, JAGS is built for girls who are not only academically driven but also eager to seize every opportunity on offer.

At its core, JAGS is academic, with 92% of GCSE entries graded 9-7 and 92% of A-Level students achieving A*/A/B. Nearly all Sixth Formers go on to prestigious universities like Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, and Imperial. This success is a product of a rigorous environment that nurtures and challenges the brightest minds.

The girls who thrive at JAGS are doers. They don’t just aim to succeed—they want to experience everything. JAGS offers a wealth of extracurricular activities, from climbing walls to art, music, drama, and international cuisine. With over 85% of girls in the Prep playing a musical instrument, the school’s offerings are as diverse as the students themselves. The right type of girl at JAGS isn’t overwhelmed by the abundance of opportunities; she finds them exciting and energizing, diving into new experiences with enthusiasm. The commitment to finding the right students means that they have set up a wonderful bursary fund that supports around 15% of the senior school. 

However, JAGS girls are not solely focused on achievement. They are well-rounded individuals who embrace challenges and growth. While many girls arrive with high academic expectations, the school fosters a mindset that mistakes are part of the learning process—not failures. On my visit, I was lucky enough to be shown around by Victoria Goodson, Head of Junior School. It reminded me exactly why I love what I do: helping families find the school that feels just right for their daughter. When that match is right, it’s not just exciting—it’s transformative.
