Hampton Court House School is truly a hidden gem. As you approach via a quiet, private road, you're greeted by a gated entrance and a welcoming member of staff who kindly directs you to parking and the sign-in area—an outdoor summer house reminiscent of a charming heritage ticket office.
Despite visiting on one of the rare rainy days this year, we were warmly received by Ms Dale Cash, Head of Admissions, who immediately handed us a branded umbrella, setting the tone for a thoughtful and personalised tour.
History at Its Heart
Founded in 2001 by Lady Eliana Houston-Boswall and her son Alexander Houston-Boswall, Hampton Court House is currently the last in a long line of uses for the 18th Century house. The main building dates back to 1757, originally constructed for the 2nd Earl of Halifax. Stepping inside the school sparks the same intrigue as visiting a stately home, inspiring visitors to delve deeper into its rich past.
A Bespoke Education for Ages 2 to 18
Hampton Court House is a co-educational school offering education from nursery all the way through to A-Levels. The youngest learners are based in the annexe—a beautifully designed space set within what was once the estate’s walled garden. This part of the school accommodates the nursery, pre-prep, and prep pupils, giving a gentle and engaging start to their educational journey.
One of the school’s standout features is its bilingual curriculum, with up to 30% of lessons taught in French in the early years. From Year 5 onward, pupils are set according to their French proficiency—but there’s no need to worry if your child is new to the language, tailored support is readily available. The curriculum also includes Latin and Mandarin, showcasing the school’s commitment to a rich, global education.

Joining the Dukes Education family in 2021, Hampton Court House has benefited from significant investment. Despite being surrounded by nature, central London is only 30 minutes away, with regular train service from Clapham Junction. The school also runs daily transport from areas including Putney and Hammersmith, and parents benefit from on-site parking.

After our tour, we sat down with Ms Cash over coffee, where she summed up the school perfectly by echoing our own thoughts: “We are a bespoke school.” With just 384 pupils across all age groups, Hampton Court House truly can tailor education and enrichment to each child’s needs.
